Practical Info: Public Transportation in ParisGetting Directions For those needing directions during your stay in Paris, we recommend using the website/app Citymapper. You can either use the webapp at this link https://citymapper.com/webapp, or download the mobile app for iOS and Android by clicking the button at the top right corner of the web app page. Please note, that in preparation for the Summer 2024 Olympics, several metro stations have been closed and several bus routes have been modified. Citymapper takes these changes into account, so don't hesitate to use it even if you are very familiar with Paris. --------------- Buying Tickets To purchase public transportation tickets, you have several options: 1) Download the free mobile app and purchase digital tickets directly on your phone. The app, Ile-de-France Mobilités, can be downloaded here (page only available in French): https://www.iledefrance-mobilites.fr/titres-et-tarifs/supports/smartphone. 2) You can purchase a travel card and top it up at any metro station, either at the automatic machines or at the information desks. Bear in mind, that most machines and informations desks only accept payment by credit/debit card. 3) If you're only planning to take the bus, you can buy your ticket via SMS if you have a French phone number. You send an SMS to the number 93100 with the word BUS and the bus number (example: BUS101, BUS67...).
